Throughout nursing school, I always knew unquestionably that I would not only survive it, but succeed while doing so. What I could not imagine, however, was being an experienced nurse. Adjusting to the role of RN and doing so in a busy Labor and Delivery unit is probably the most challenging task I've ever undertaken. Seriously.
A few days ago marked my two year anniversary of being an RN. An occasion of which I am quite proud. To be an RN who feels like she knows what she's doing on most days is a wonderful feeling. And to write more on the issue at this time would be pointless.
Despite how it may appear, I have been writing extensively during these past two years. It has not been in the form of blogging, but rather, papers in APA format for my Bachelors of Nursing. I've been working feverishly with a fabulous college in Orlando and their online BSN program. According to my plan, I will earn this next degree on April 18, 2010. (Nine more months. I'm trying to compare it to a pregnancy.) My hope is to become accepted for my Masters at Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing soon after.
I can't say how often I will be blogging, but it does feel good to be here again. Many thanks to Shelley, for her gentle reminder of where I need to be.

- This is Patti
- I'm a forty-something wife, homeschooling mom and Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse. I'm a published freelance writer, Childbirth Educator, Lactation Educator and used-to-be-a-doula. Founded a national volunteer organization and am working toward becoming a nurse practitioner. I dream of being discovered by someone who desires to pay me $1 per word, wish I had the ambition to exercise daily, treasure my quiet, small town and despise cleaning out the fridge.

My 100th Post
Much to say. Too jumbled in my mind to say it yet.
Wednesday I took my nursing boards. Yesterday I found out I passed.
My lifelong dream of being a registered nurse has come true.
Wow.

We're off to a great start.
Today began with a discovery of puppy poop in the kennel. He's not as cute this morning as he was yesterday.
I'm still furious with the dance studio people. I'd love to call the teacher up and give her a few earfuls about how unprofessional she is. In my younger years I would have done that a long time ago. Now, it's just not happening.
But I really would like to.
